Light It Up
15 April, 2023 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Next stop in Cunnamulla involves an immersive deep dive into local outback culture as you and fellow Trail-goers join the community in art and song as part of the finale of the Outback River Lights Festival. Your Light It Up adventure begins with the option to participate in the community-led lantern building art workshop. Create your own personalised lantern and join the parade of street performers and fire twirlers to the festival showgrounds where your artwork becomes one of hundreds of pieces that constitute the festival’s large ‘lighted’ sculpture. Then kick back and enjoy the local hospitality as the highlight of the evening’s festivities culminates in a light show and concert featuring ARIA Award-winning First Nations singer-songwriter Emma Donovan & the Putbacks and Wergaia and Wemba Wemba musician Alice Skye. You can choose to arrive a bit early to enjoy the entire Outback River Lights Festival or stay an extra day or two to explore the town before heading back out. On the Road with the Barleyshakes Duo Kicking on in Cunnamulla, The Barleyshakes Duo will join Trail-goers for On the Road once more. Bring your voices, instruments and stories to tell for a play-along on the Outback Trail.
